Á bakvið tjöldin — Guest Lecture at Iceland University of the Arts

On September 5, 2025, I was invited to give a guest lecture, Á bakvið tjöldin: hlutverk umboðsaðila tónlistarfólks (“Behind the Scenes: The Role of the Artist Manager”), to students on the new Tónlist, nýsköpun, tækni programme at the Iceland University of the Arts (LHÍ).

Drawing on my work building GLITSKÝ Management, I walked students through the business infrastructure behind an international career in music — from revenue streams and the economics of building a sustainable career to the different roles played by managers, agents, labels, publishers and other specialists.

The session also looked at contracts and collaboration, and why understanding the roles and incentives of the people around an artist creates the foundation for better agreements and long-term working relationships.
